Will You Be Living on $8 an Hour?
It’s no surprise. In the current economy there is a major lack of jobs and job security in the workplace, because people everywhere are being downsized or laid off.
The people with jobs are being told that they won’t be getting raises or worse…will be taking a cut in pay.
There was so much press around McDonalds hiring 30,000 new workers last year, because everyone thought they would be employing out of work teenagers. That’s why people were shocked to see the majority of applicants and PEOPLE HIRED were adults with college educations and mortgages who had fallen out of the work force. They were facing shrinking their lives into an $8.00 per hour box.
Not very many people can support themselves on $1700 per month.
Today, more than ever before, older men & women are turning to home-based Network Marketing as their best way out of the $8.00 per hour box.
My partners and I are ready to help three more people get out of the box this week. If you want to be one of them, email me directly to jmftgn(a)gmail.com. I’d love to speak with you.

Get Your MBA From MLM
“As an employer I want the best-prepared and qualified employees. I could care less if the source of their education was accredited by a bunch of old men and women who think they know what is best for the world. I want people who can do the job. I want the best and brightest. Not a piece of paper.”
from Blog Maverick, Mark Cuban’s weblog:
Forget a Harvard MBA. Earn while you learn from building a Network Marketing business. The tax advantages alone make it worth doing. The up-side of even modest success will surprise & delight you. And what you learn about creating wealth, marketing, leadership and how to have fun doing it, will make you one of those proven “best and brightest” Mr. Cuban will pay dearly for— if you ever chose to do something else, which is highly doubtful.
“When you join a good Network Marketing company, they don’t just give you a track to run on, they also support you in developing the skills and qualities you need to succeed.
Network Marketing is a real-world business school for people who want to learn the real-world skills of an entrepreneur, rather than the skills of an employee.”

A Quick Update
In the beginning… No, this won’t be a biblical reference. We’re speaking about what this website used to be and what it is becoming now.
When John first started this site, he had a vision of creating a rich resource for any and everybody who had a desire to know more about Network Marketing. NOT a burning desire (sorry Napoleon). NOT even a passionate one. Just simply for folks who wanted to learn more. And that’s still one of the main things this website is about.
What’s changed is that after years of being a neutral “industry expert,” John has recently entered into partnership with a Network Marketing company and upline sponsor. He’s still committed to helping anyone who wants to know more— probably even more so now than ever— about Network Marketing to have the resources he or she needs to do that. (Click on the Free Library to see exactly what we mean.) And if you know John, you’ll know you can trust him to give you the advice and direction he thinks and feels is best for you.
And now the site will also be a place where John can speak about his choice of a Network Marketing partnership.
The company is Isagenix. His sponsor is Jimmy “the butcher” Smith— a man who along with his family has made 30 million-dollars in the past 10 years and has created 30 millionaires in his organization. John’s doing a book with Jimmy. In the course of learning Jimmy’s story, John got intrigued, then excited, then… First things first, he wanted a product experience. He got one— more than he ever dreamed possible. He’ll tell you the story soon. Promise.
For now, we’ll be ramping & amping up the site to include more resources for you on your journey of exploring Network Marketing. As John says…
“The most remarkable form of
free-enterpsise ever created.”
Stay tuned.

Why Now Is Prime Time for Direct Selling
This past Friday (June 24, 2011), this “Special Supplement to The Wall Street Journal by Direct Selling News” appeared in 1.2 million copies of the prestigious business bible.

The cover of the handsomely put together piece states,
“In 2010, direct selling companies generated over $125 billion in revenue in 150 countries through more than 75 million men and women who are changing lives serving others. This is the story of direct selling.”
More than worth-the-read, this is required reading for anyone already in or interested in Network Marketing Direct Sales.

The wealth-building attributes of Network Marketing – Richard Brooke
What follows is a piece John Fogg couldn’t include in his upcoming (July 2011) book, The Greatest Networkers in the World — 21 ordinary people who became millionaires in Network Marketing and the true stories of how they did it. The because is there just aren’t enough pages to include all the good & great stuff John got from his interviews with The Greatest Networkers.
This one is Richard Brooke speaking about the “wealth-building attributes of Network Marketing.” It’s included in the Audio Interviews (the clip is available to listen to, below) and the transcripts. It’s brilliant and a classic.

There just isn’t any other economic business vehicle where a person can get started for a few hundred or a thousand dollars, on a part-time basis and three or four years later, have a net worth— because of their residual income— in the millions.
Somebody goes to work on a part-time basis. Three or four years later, they’ve got a residual income of let’s just say $5,000 or $10,000. It’s residual, because of the way they built it and the company they built it in.
Residual meaning, if they chose to, or something happened in their life and they had to quit managing and driving the group, would their income at least stay the same?
Now in many organizations, many companies, it should grow. Why? Because at the lowest level in the geometric progressions, they haven’t built anything yet.
So if they start building out their next level, the organization just grew by three or four or five times. It should grow geometrically, but if just stayed flat, you would have residual income.
Five thousand dollars a month in residual income provides you with a net worth at today’s interest rates of $3-$4 million.
Under a normal interest rate scenario, at least $1 million. Ten thousand dollars a month, $2 million.
How do you equate that?
Well, how much rental real estate would you have to own, free and clear, no mortgages, to have rents net to you after management maintenance of $10,000 a month? You’d need at least $2 million worth of rental property if not $3 million or $4 million.
Or how much money would you need in equities, cash, bonds, dividend-paying stocks to get a five percent annual return? You’d need $2 million to get $10,000 a month.
Think about in the lifetime of people saving and investing and the risk in real estate and equities, the risk of investing in a company that one day “Forbes Magazine” and the President of the United States and “USA Today” and “Wall Street Journal” says is the next phenomenon in business.
Six months later they’re bankrupt, their stocks are not worth anything and people are going to jail. Think about the risks of investing in equities and real estate and how long it would take somebody to amass a fortune of $2 million.
For most people it would take a lifetime of discipline, sacrifice and very good timing and very good fortune.
You can do the same thing in four or five years in the right Network Marketing company with the right product, building it the right way.
Huge relationships with people, servant leadership, building an organization that at some point they don’t look to you anymore. They’re looking to themselves and they’re looking to their group. They may want you and appreciate you but they don’t need your leadership anymore.
When you’ve built that, you’ve built a net worth in the millions of dollars. There’s just no other way to do it in our society and our business model and our economy. It is light years more efficient and faster and more accessible to the masses than real estate or equities.
I just love the wealth-building attributes of Network Marketing.

Direct sales (like Avon, Mary Kay) offer recession-proof jobs – USA Today
Direct sales (like Avon, Mary Kay) offer recession-proof jobs
Updated 5/15/2009 1:30 PM |
By Charisse Jones, USA TODAY
_________________________
Not long ago, Craig Lapp made his living driving a truck that helped carve Southern California’s soil into new developments. But then housing sales slumped, and in November 2007 Lapp’s construction company let him go.
While he searched for another job, Lapp began working alongside his wife, Lynne, in a business based in their Temecula home, selling nutritional supplements made by the direct-sales company Isagenix. Nearly two years later and with no construction job in sight, Lapp says a one-time sideline has become the couple’s bread and butter.
“It’s paying our mortgage, our car payments … putting food on the table,” says Lapp, 55, who adds that he and his wife are earning a six-figure income. “It was our ‘Plan B’ that turned into our ‘Plan A.’ ”
Direct-sales businesses that rely on home-based representatives to peddle their wares are seeing their sales forces rapidly expand as the nation’s unemployment rate soars to nearly 9% and those who lost jobs and nest eggs look for new ways to make money.
“We’re recession-resistant in the sense that more people come to us during economic hard times for supplemental income or replacement of a lost job.”
— Neil Offen, president of the Direct Selling Association.
While 2008 industry figures aren’t yet available, “Anecdotally we’re hearing that recruitment is up and … unfortunately as the unemployment rate rises to 10% or higher, we’ll be picking up more people who need an income-earning opportunity.”
The recession has become a recruiting tool. An Avon (AVP) cosmetics representative declares in TV ads that…
“I can’t get laid off. It’s my business.”
Companies such as Isagenix, a marketer of weight-management and nutritional supplements and snacks, and jewelry maker Silpada Designs are coaching their representatives to spread the word that direct selling can keep you afloat in the faltering economy.
“Right now, our direct-selling opportunity is really the No. 1 product that we have to sell,”
— Geralyn Breig, president of Avon North America.
With that in mind, Avon this year launched its most ambitious recruitment campaign and saw its U.S. sales force grow to more than 680,000 through March, its largest ever, Breig says.
The same month, cosmetics company Mary Kay began airing its first TV ad for new representatives. In its first three days, visitors seeking information about becoming “beauty consultants” at MaryKay.com spiked 108%.
Silpada Designs, a Lenexa, Kan.-based company specializing in sterling silver jewelry, says its sales force in the U.S. and Canada was up 11.8% on May 1 from a year earlier. And Chandler, Ariz.-based Isagenix says its sales force was up 30% in March from a year before.
Direct selling is a fluid industry, with only 10% of representatives working “full time,” or at least 30 hours a week. Many work only long enough to meet short-term goals, such as holiday presents.

Become a Network Marketing Pro. Solution for the Jobs Crisis.
Millions of jobs lost, many may never return.
Even as the economy recovers, more people could face years out of work
Back a bit, Eric Worre, creator and star of NetworkMarketingPro.com, did this video below titled: Become a Network Marketing Pro. Solution for the Jobs Crisis.
Eric referenced a piece on MSNBC.com titled: Millions of jobs lost, many may never return. by Christopher S. Rugaber of The Associated PressHere’s the beginning of the article with a link to the complete piece.
WASHINGTON — Fewer construction workers will be needed. Don’t expect as many interior designers or advertising copywriters, either. Retailers will get by with leaner staffs.
The economy is strengthening. But millions of jobs lost in the recession could be gone for good.
And unlike in past recessions, jobs in the beleaguered manufacturing sector aren’t the only ones likely lost forever. What sets the Great Recession apart is the variety of jobs that may not return.
That helps explain why economists think it will take at least five years for the economy to regain the 8.2 million jobs wiped out by the recession — longer than in any other recovery since World War II.
It means that even as the economy strengthens, more Americans could face years out of work. Already, the percentage of the labor force unemployed for six months or longer is 4.3 percent. That’s the highest rate on records dating to 1948.

Direct Sales – a “Fabulous” Business Model
In this video CNBC’s popular Mad Money host Jim Cramer, reports that the direct selling model is going “great guns,” adding it could be the best way to sell goods in the Third World.
Cramer previously interviewed Rick Goings, CEO of Tupperware, who told him that women around the world had signed up in droves to be sales representatives for Tupperware products. The executive added that in this evironment, direct selling adds a personal touch and is more effective than traditional advertising. Being as people tend to listen more to testimonals rather than advertisements. Cramer thinks the direct selling model could be the best way to sell goods in the developing world.
Despite the good news for direct sellers, Cramer complained that these kinds of companies have never “gotten their due from Wall Street.” While people have acted as if the business model is “bogus”, Cramer thinks it’s actually fabulous.
“I think it’s time to recognize that the direct sales model works and works well,” Cramer said.
Here’s the short (03:13) video.

Is Your Work & Life OUT of Balance?
Why do most people get involved in Network Marketing? For the money— pure & simple. But more & more, money alone isn’t enough. It’s money and…
More time to spend with
friends, family and yourself.
In short, the balance between life & work even a successful part-time Network Marketing business offers.
Please watch this short (10 minute) TED.com video from Nigel Marsh: “How to make work-life balance work”
An idea who’s time has come? Truly, an idea who’s time never really left. Yet as Mr. Marsh points out, there are very (very) few corporations willing and able to effectively incorporate these increasingly sought after human values into their work-a-day worlds.
But in Network Marketing, the freedom to balance your life and work is a fundamental benefit.
The burning or burned out corporate executive… the working mom who longs to be home with her kids… the 20-somethings who aren’t buying into having to give up your life to make a living… even the successful small business owner who’s painfully realizing his business owns him… all of these people and many more are turning in increasing numbers to Network Marketing as not only “the last bastion of free-enterprise,” but as the one place where they can earn the income they need to enjoy the balanced and fulfilling lifestyle they desire, dream of and deserve.
Network Marketing isn’t the only way.
We just don’t know a better one.

The NEW American Dream Team
Network Marketing: Myths and Legends – Jillian Middleton
In MLM network marketing, it is all about
your efforst and “Who you are.” It is how you
show up FOR people and how you show up WITH
people that makes all the difference. If you’re
looking for personal control in your financial life,
this could be your vehicle
Way too often, people have an unnecessary low opinion of network marketing. It is time the real story is told. I can speak about both the merits of network marketing, as well as its “less than stellar” public opinion, because of my own experience.
My early opinions of network marketing were solid… and ugly. I thought people who did MLM were unable to do anything else. I felt this way even though I was introduced to the business the same way many people are, by a friend of many years, Norine Arundel. Although I had every reason to believe her and trust her judgment, my prejudices were so strong I simply couldn’t see around them.
If you’re looking at network marketing to solve a financial dilemma, like I was, or simply to make a few extra bucks, for heaven’s sake, don’t let the myths get in your way. Instead, look to the real legends.
To make sure we’re on the same page here, I’ll define what I mean by myths and legends.
One of the definitions for myth from dictionary.com is “an unproved or false collective belief that is used to justify a social institution.” Two great examples of this kind of myth in MLM network marketing are:
- Anyone can do it
- “Gangster money” is available to everyone who decides to work a network marketing business
I isn’t a huge leap of common sense to realize that everyone cannot possibly be cut out to do network marketing, anymore than everyone is cut out to be a doctor or hairdresser.
And the notion that “gangster money”… when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. The worse part of this kind of myth is it gets in the way of the real legends in the industry.
What do I mean by legends? Dictionary.com again: “A collection of stories about an admirable person… a person who is the center of such stories.”
So, who are these legends in network marketing? People just like you and me. They have jobs they don’t like. Or they have a business that owns them rather than them owning the business. They are often professionals, yet just as often from “blue collar” industries. Some come to MLM with no college, and some come with PhDs.
I consider myself a pretty smart person, but the myths I heard about this industry nearly kept me from one of the best financial/entrepreneurial decision of my life. My prejudices about network marketing were so strong that even though my construction business of eight-plus years was falling down around my ears, I wasn’t embracing MLM any too fast!
I thought MLM could be described in two words: hokey and unprofessional. I thought if you were in network marketing, you chased your neighbors down the street to sell them soap.
The California economy had been in a huge downturn for about four years, and I had thrown everything I had at my construction company: my savings, effort, time, and finally all the credit I had, but nothing could stop the train wreck of business disaster. I was broke and in debt to everyone, including the IRS. Under those circumstances you would think I would be open buy cheap Mr.Long online to something new – especially if a trusted friend brought it to me!
