Even as the economy recovers, more people could face years out of work

WASHINGTON — Fewer construction workers will be needed. Don’t expect as many interior designers or advertising copywriters, either. Retailers will get by with leaner staffs.

The economy is strengthening. But millions of jobs lost in the recession could be gone for good.

And unlike in past recessions, jobs in the beleaguered manufacturing sector aren’t the only ones likely lost forever. What sets the Great Recession apart is the variety of jobs that may not return.

That helps explain why economists think it will take at least five years for the economy to regain the 8.2 million jobs wiped out by the recession — longer than in any other recovery since World War II.

It means that even as the economy strengthens, more Americans could face years out of work. Already, the percentage of the labor force unemployed for six months or longer is 4.3 percent. That’s the highest rate on records dating to 1948.

It’s said that a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. There is clearly some truth to that remark and it often shows up when people learn a little more about MLM Network Marketing. Two “cynical” questions consistently arise:

Are the people at the top making all of the money?

It’s a grim economic picture these days. Businesses are downsizing, going virtual or going offshore and taking our jobs with them. That’s bad news. Making matters worse, the recession that is gripping our economy — while showing some signs of recovery — has hit many of us hard. The unemployment rate is hovering around 10 percent, a 26-year high. And there is a widening gap between the richest and poorest Americans as these rippling job layoffs ravage household budgets.

Not everybody is struggling. Many of us who have pursued Network Marketing have gone from relying on an employer to pay us and take care of our security, to us “getting it” that we are our only security.

What was once considered risky— starting your own business— is rapidly becoming known as the smartest way to reduce taxes, increase your income, build net worth and create free time.

So just how promising is Network Marketing? Could it be the answer to the financial security you’re looking for? And just as important, is this industry tested and proven?

To answer these questions, I’ve included a link to an educational and eye-opening video I recently recorded called The Four Year Career. It takes a good, hard look at this 60-year-old industry from an insider’s perspective as I explain the proven merits of the Network Marketing and how it can truly offer a viable solution to a lifetime of financial security.

I encourage you to take a few minutes and watch The Four Year Career because the truth is, for most of us, the traditional business approach is out of reach.

Why? Hundreds of thousands in start-up capital— all at risk and far more than a full-time effort with competitors around every corner. There are no solid mentors and no life beyond the business.

Network Marketing provides an alternative for those serious about their net worth and their freedom.

In his best-selling book, The Automatic Millionaire, David Bach says, “the beauty of this industry is that it’s all done for you. The only thing you need to do is find a reputable company — one that you trust, that offers a product or service you believe in and can get passionate about.”

Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad says, “you’re actually building an income-generating asset. Direct selling gives people the opportunity, with very low risk and very low financial commitment, to build their own income-generating asset and acquire great wealth.”

And what once may have been looked down upon as a peddler’s opportunity is now seen far differently by those that should know. In the past few years alone, Network Marketing has been showcased in Forbes, Fortune, USA Today, US News and World Report and the Wall Street Journal.

“The best-kept secret of the business world.” That’s how an article in Fortune magazine described Network Marketing in August 2004.

In 2002, Warren Buffet got many people’s attention when Berkshire Hathaway purchased a major Direct Sales company.

Buffet now owns three Direct Sales companies and has said, “dollar for dollar, it’s the best investment I’ve ever made.”

Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Records and a host of other Virgin companies, founded Virgin Cosmetics in the UK — a Direct Sales company. The list of major MLM investors reads like a who’s who: Bertelsmann, The Body Shop, Crayola, Hallmark Cards, Jockey, Nestle, Remington Industries, Sara Lee, Unilever and Time Warner.

In his most recent book, The Next Millionaires, Paul Zane Pilzer forecasts 10 million new millionaires in the U.S. over the next 10 years, and predicts many of them will be people who are getting involved in their own Network Marketing business now.

Network Marketing has grown every year for the past 20, jumping over 91 percent in just the past 10 years. Today, more than 40 million of us enjoy annual sales of $30 billion in the U.S. and $100 billion worldwide.

Every week, an average of 175,000 new people in the U.S., and an additional 300,000 worldwide, get their starter kit, learn their products and start offering their opportunity to others. Some will persevere with a personal vision of fun, health and abundance and go on to live extraordinary lives. Others will not harness this personal power and will move on. Either way, the opportunity to be part of a great movement in our country and the world is available to all of us.

We cannot deny that we are smack-dab in the middle of the opportunity to change our lives and the lives of our families for generations to come. Not just with the wealth we can create, but with the wisdom to live lives worthy of such abundance. What we do with it today, tomorrow and every day is entirely up to us. As good ol’ Henry Ford said profoundly: “If we think we can, we will. If we think we can’t, we won’t.”

It does not take a Ph.D to figure out how things won’t work for you. Actually, any idiot can decide that fate. It takes vision, courage and creativity to figure out every day how it will work for you.

Make it happen for yourself. Do it ANYWAY!

Stay the Course Long Enough to Discover the Magic for Yourself

Years ago, I uncovered four
levels of what I call “pursuit” in
Network Marketing. Each one
leads to greater appreciation and
a higher consciousness: Money,
Freedom, Helping People, and
Changing the World.

Network Marketing is a gift, and in the right hands, it can change the world. I know this from firsthand experience.

In 1994, I was on my way to Paris, France, to speak at the launch of an American Network Marketing company. A couple days before the launch, I was doing a meeting in Antwerp, Belgium. At the conclusion of the meeting, I was told that there was a gentleman waiting in the lobby who wanted to speak to me. I will never forget his story.

He was Croatian, and it was during the time when there was a war in his country between the Serbs and the Muslims. He was involved in another Network Marketing company, and he was looking at joining our company.

He proceeded to tell me about an organizational meeting that he had attended a few nights before in order to recognize and congratulate one of his distributors on their advancement. This meeting was in Croatia, where he had to cross a border and risk his life to enter into a very dangerous part of the country. Snipers were killing people there every day.

The meeting was held in the basement of a house in the war zone. Everyone that attended was risking their lives. Every day, they were smuggling their products across the border to build their businesses. But what was amazing was that at this meeting there were Serbs and Muslims, all sponsored by one another and all hugging and congratulating each other.

What a paradox:

Outside, there was war, hate, and destruction. Inside, there was peace, love, and harmony… and it was because of Network Marketing.

I saw clearly at that moment that this business was about so much more than just money. It was about bringing people together. It was about an unselfish commitment to help someone else become successful. It was about looking for the good in one another instead of the bad. It was about free enterprise and helping to change the financial status of one family, then two, then three. It was about bridging the gap between different cultures, religions, and ethnic backgrounds.

For the first time, I truly saw what an impact Network Marketing could have around the world. And today, when I think about singing the praises of Network Marketing, I think about that Croatian man and his sacrifice to fulfill a dream. Then it becomes really clear. To those that embrace the power of Network Marketing, it ceases to be a business. To them, it becomes their life, and their life is magic.

Everyone Can Win

I can still remember like it was yesterday.  It was 3 am, and I was sitting on the sofa watching infomercials.  The one with Tom Vu was on and he said, “You, you sitting there on the sofa.  It’s 3 am your wife’s asleep, your baby’s asleep.  Nobody cares about you.  You’re a loser!  If you don’t buy my program, you deserve to be broke!”

And of course I was so broke I couldn’t afford to buy his program, so I felt like the biggest loser in the world.  But thankfully I found Network Marketing…

And the one business where everyone can win.

You are not competing against anybody.  You have the chance to win and nobody else has to lose along the way.  And in life that’s not usually true.

When you get in a business where your success is based on the success of others, everybody wins.

Now there will be some losers, but that’s because some people quit.  So that’s a choice they make.  But if they are willing to stay the course, they can win along with the others.

Ain’t it great!

More & more, the issue of “Retirement” is increasing in importance for a growing number of Americans. Clearly, with the Baby Boomers in their 50′s and 60′s that’s to be expected. There are five great reasons to utilize a Network Marketing business to secure your retirement.

Let me tell you a sad story.

A number of years ago I met a man who had worked for the same company for 30 years and socked away a large sum of money into the company retirement account. He was 2 years away from retirement when the company went bankrupt. He lost everything and was devastated. “What could I do in 2 years that would enable me to recreate my retirement fund,” he asked me and I told him there was only one thing – Network Marketing. I then helped him research the industry to find the right company for him and 2 years later he had built a business that generated far more than his retirement account would have.

Think about it this way.

If you have a Network Marketing business that generates a $100,000 a year income, you have the equivalent of $1,000,000 in an investment that yields 10%.

How long would it take you to accumulate $1,000,000 doing what you are doing now?

Whereas there are many people who work part-time and within 2 to 5 years have a Network Marketing business that generates a residual income of $100,000 or more (much more). Beyond the financial side, a successful Network Marketing business will give you free time to enjoy life, opportunities to travel and make new friends, lot’s of cool contests and awards, and amazing tax benefits.

So, if you have a Network Marketing business, get busy and secure your financial future. If you don’t, start looking today.

Getting Free

One of the most important things we do in Network Marketing is helping people get free. They break away from the bonds of office politics, nepotism, rush hour traffic, and someone controlling a very large percentage of their waking hours.

We can offer them an environment based on empowering people. Becoming successful by helping offers reach success. Getting free by helping others get free. But this is also the area that hurts the most people in our business…

So I’m writing a lengthy post about the subject and I’m asking you to make sure everyone on your team reads this today.

The biggest mistake I see in the business is people leaving their jobs too soon. As soon as someone equals their job income, they want to leave it. But that’s a mistake. This forces them to live out of their MLM business, instead of using their income to grow their business. And when you have to sponsor someone just to meet bills, that creates stress and a very negative energy.

Better you keep your job and work even more evenings a week. Sacrifice for a season to grow the business and pay off your bills. The best scenario is for you to be debt free, extra money in the bank, and earning even more from your MLM business than your job. Only then is it time to quit the job.

So here’s my advice:

Write your resignation letter NOW.

Then put it in your wallet or purse. Read it every morning. Read it when you’re having a hard time at work. Read it when you get home from a meeting at 1 am and have to get up at 6 am for work the next day. Let it drive you. Then one day soon, you’ll be able to hand it in.

Dear (insert cheap boss name here),

As I’m sure you know, there have been turbulent changes in the economy and this has affected us all. In response to these factors, our family has been forced to make some restructuring changes and some positions have been eliminated. One of those positions is mine.

I can no longer afford to work here. And because of the difficult economic times, I am opening up the position for someone that doesn’t have a dream. It’s time for me to leave, so I can live mine.

Sincerely,
(Your name)

Please really do write your resignation letter today and let it pull you toward freedom. And encourage your people to do the same. But counsel with them and let’s not have anyone leave their job until the time is right for them. Then we really are helping people get free.

What If…

corporate America was suddenly

What if… you could actually focus on being a rising star and mentoring and serving others, and what if you could eliminate all the wasted time, effort, and stress involved in mastering the maze of maneuvers and manipulation demanded by the reality of the primacy of politics in the organization?

What if… you had immediate, unlimited earning potential based on accomplishment?

What if… you were allowed to identify and mentor others to follow in your productive footsteps and be rewarded accordingly, on a permanent basis, for their success, without fear that they would replace you?

What if…you received a small monthly percentage of the earnings of all those you identify, nurture, train, and mentor to contribute to the company’s success?

Oh yes, and…

What if… there was no limit, now or in the future, on your upside success and income?

What if this utopian business model could actually be implemented?

It has been. It’s called network marketing.

John Fogg, just finished (in less than an hour) reading Randy Gage’s new book, Making the First Circle Work: It’s a book FOR Network Marketers— a “How To” and a “Who To” of what it takes to be and do success in this business from an MLM rock star who’s made millions. More importantly, Randy has “arguably trained more millionaires [in this business] than anyone else.” John said, “This may be the best book about Network Marketing I’ve read.” Considering he wrote the million-selling book, The Greatest Networker in the World That’s saying something.

The First Circle refers to the classic flip chart presentation of the MLM opportunity where Network Marketers draw a circle, then on the line below that more circles, and below that even more circles, and so on to illustrate how a Multi-Level organization grows and is built. The First Circle on the chart is YOU. That’s what Randy’s book is about— what you have to do and who you have to be to create duplicatable success in this business.

Don’t You Dare Give Up!

It’s 5 am and I should be sleeping. But I’ve been tossing and turning for over an hour thinking about what I wanted to say to you. It’s about the work you do and the dreams you want to live…

In our business we can earn a lot of money, win those trips to exotic locales, and drive those gorgeous bonus cars. We have the chance to really get our freedom.

But that’s the thing about freedom. It’s never free…

Freedom is the by product of success and you must be willing to pay the price for success. And success never goes on sale. You have to pay the market price. And that can be so very hard…

I know. I struggled for five years in this business. Sacrificed things to buy my monthly product order. Alienated everyone around me, pestering them to join my business. Argument after argument.

Because I could explain all the rational, logical reasons everyone should be in the business. And if you wanted to argue with me, I could explain all the reasons you were being an idiot.

For some reason that approach didn’t work very well. So I switched to strategy number two…

Begging.

But that approach didn’t work much better. So for five years I went to presentation after presentation, bought tape after tape, attended meeting after meeting. I talked about traveling the beaches of the world, while I parked my broken down junk heap in the back, so no one would see what I was driving.

I remember the first house meeting I did. Invited about 14 or 15 people and waited, brimming over with excitement. Of course you know what happened…

No one. Not one.

Common sense tells you I should have quit. But dreams never come true with common sense. Dreams come true because they are bold, daring, and imaginative. Because they are strong enough to pull you toward them.

I could have quit, should have quit, would have quit. But I came to a realization that changed everything for me:

I realized I was the most ambitious person I knew.

And there was freedom in that line of thinking. Which eventually led to the real freedom.

I wish I could say after five years I magically flipped a switch and became rich, but that isn’t true. But things started to change…

I began to understand the importance of a system and how duplication worked. Began daily self-development, becoming less of the person people didn’t want to work with and more of the person they did. Learned some skill sets.

And today I have those exotic cars, live in my dream homes, contribute to charities in a meaningful way, earn millions of dollars and have my freedom. And while I appreciate the money, toys and trips, it’s about a lot more than that.

Which is why I’m writing you…

I have been where most of you are, and made it to the level most are even afraid to dream of. So let me share what I have learned along the way, but most importantly, what I want for you. Here are the four things I want for you:

1) Live a Life of Adventure.

Stop watching actors live adventure in movies and TV shows. It’s time for you to live your own adventure.

I have flown the Concord, prayed in the Crystal Cathedral, fallen in love in Paris, taken a shower on the A380 airplane, flown in a hot air balloon, watched whales playing in Hawaii, meditated in a Shaolin Temple, piloted an airplane, rode an elephant through the rainforest in Thailand, visited all the world’s greatest opera houses, watched a ballgame in Wrigley Field, rode horses through the mountains, and heard the call to worship at mosques in Istanbul. And I’m just getting started…

Is your adventure started yet? Life is not about fighting rush hour traffic, working in a cubicle, or sending your kids to daycare. Life is for living. And that means you.

2) Get Your Freedom.

See number one. You are not meant to be woken up with an alarm clock. You are supposed to wake up when you finish sleeping. When you wake up, you should be the one to choose how you are going to spend your day, and whom you are going to spend it with. You’re supposed to order from the left side of the menu, not the right side.

Freedom is about having choices. Whether it’s choosing what car to drive, home to live in, or exotic locale you want to vacation in.

It’s about choosing the causes to support, the school you want your kids to go to, and the people you want in your life. Choosing to live out loud, in color, with passion.

3) Right Injustice.

How often have you seen a situation that wasn’t right and felt powerless to stop it? How many times have you wanted to right a wrong, but didn’t have the time or money or freedom to do it?

I’ve been able to right many an injustice. But I couldn’t do that much when I was trapped and broke. I can now because I am free.

Want to do a mission in the Philippines, help the starving kids in Africa, or the earthquake victims in Haiti? Do what you can now, but to really make a meaningful difference, you probably need time, money and freedom. Which leads us to…

4) Move from Success to Significance

I’m a former minimum wage dishwasher who became a multi-millionaire. I am truly blessed. And yes I appreciate the cars, homes and money this business has brought me. That satisfies you for a while. But then you want more…

You want to make a difference. Leave a legacy. Build something that outlives you.

That’s when life really begins. That’s when you know the world is a better place because you are in it. And when be a better place even after you’re gone.

Whether it’s supporting the arts, building an orphanage, or saving the rainforest. Maybe it’s sponsoring a Little League team, mentoring a young person, or starting a shelter for battered women. Or all of the above.

I don’t know what is in your heart to do, but I know there is something. And that’s what I challenge you to do. Yes I wish freedom, lifestyle and all the goodies for you. And I also wish you love, meaning and leading a life of significance.

It won’t be easy; I get that. It means sacrifice.

Because it means at 7 pm, when your spouse is home and your kids want to play, you’re leaving to go to a meeting. It means you’ll miss a chance to worship some weekends when you’re working with a long distance line somewhere. It means making those calls to candidates long after the excitement and motivation of the big event has worn off.

But I had a mantra that got me free. And it can get you free. Here it is:

“I will do today what others will not do, so tomorrow I can do what others cannot do.”

Will you do that for me? Will you do that for yourself? Will you do that for all the people you’re going to be able to help?

The pain of discipline is far easier than the pain of regret. When you feel fear, you must profess faith. Because faith is deaf, dumb and blind.

Faith is deaf to rejection, dumb to failure, and blind to the possibility of defeat. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

We can’t see them, but we have a vision for them. That is why we do self-development every morning, speak those affirmations, put up those pictures on the refrigerator.

Doing what we do is not easy. It’s not supposed to be. But it is simple. And important. Not just for your freedom and your dreams, but the freedom and dreams of everyone you will make a difference for. Most people today doubt their beliefs and believe their doubts. You have to be different.

Please. Don’t you dare take down your dream board or those pictures on your refrigerator. Don’t you dare let your spouse or kids see you quit. Don’t you dare give up on your dreams!

That’s what I want to tell you this morning.
