Is Your Work & Life OUT of Balance?
Why do most people get involved in Network Marketing? For the money— pure & simple. But more & more, money alone isn’t enough. It’s money and…
More time to spend with
friends, family and yourself.
In short, the balance between life & work even a successful part-time Network Marketing business offers.
Please watch this short (10 minute) TED.com video from Nigel Marsh: “How to make work-life balance work”
An idea who’s time has come? Truly, an idea who’s time never really left. Yet as Mr. Marsh points out, there are very (very) few corporations willing and able to effectively incorporate these increasingly sought after human values into their work-a-day worlds.
But in Network Marketing, the freedom to balance your life and work is a fundamental benefit.
The burning or burned out corporate executive… the working mom who longs to be home with her kids… the 20-somethings who aren’t buying into having to give up your life to make a living… even the successful small business owner who’s painfully realizing his business owns him… all of these people and many more are turning in increasing numbers to Network Marketing as not only “the last bastion of free-enterprise,” but as the one place where they can earn the income they need to enjoy the balanced and fulfilling lifestyle they desire, dream of and deserve.
Network Marketing isn’t the only way.
We just don’t know a better one.
PS. If you are not yet a Ted.com “freak,” please consider becoming so. TED IS the Web at it’s best!

Les Brown: Why People Fail
The passionate Les Brown advises us to stop playing it safe and start creating what’s truly possible in life. Take a minute and a half to discover why people really fail while giving thought to the THREE areas of your life where you should raise the bar and aim high for a goal!
Problem is most self-employed people running a traditional business usually lack the time and flexibility to effectively manage their goals in three different areas… if they even take the time to define them. That’s where Network Marketing changes the game, offering the possibility of earning as much or more than you have ever earned before while having the time to enjoy it in all areas of your life!

Is Network Marketing The NEW American Dream?
This post was written by John Fogg.
Seth Godin is one of my heroes. In so many, many, instances, Seth’s writing cuts through the morass & misunderstanding of the world we live & work in with a uncanny precision & vision that makes things crystal clear. Especially “things” such as what can be done to change what’s not working for the better, perhaps forever.
In his latest book, Linchpin. Are You Indispensable? Mr. Godin makes a case for what’s not working in the world of work and why. Like this:
The system we grew up with is a mess. It’s falling apart at the seams and a lot of people I care about are in pain because the things we thought would work don’t. Everyday I meet people who have so much to give but have been bullied enough or frightened enough to hold it back. They have become victims, pawns in a senseless system that uses them up and undervalues them.
It’s time to stop complying with the system and draw your own map.
Stop settling for what’s good enough… Stop asking what’s in it for you and start giving gifts that change people. Then, and only then, will you have achieved your potential.
For hundreds of years, the population has been seduced, scammed, and brainwashed into fitting in, following instructions, and exchanging a day’s work for a day’s pay. That era has come to an end and just in time.
Seth goes on to say that we have an opportunity today to change our lives for the better. He is NOT making a case for MLM Network Marketing. From my conversations with Seth I believe (unless he’s changed his “worldview”) he has not held our profession in the highest esteem. I don’t think he fully understands us, because without intending to, I believe he IS making a case for Network Marketing as one of the options to choose from.
Linchipn continues…
The Take-Care-of-You-Bargain
Here’s the deal our parents signed us up for:
Our world is filled with factories. Factories that make widgets and insurance and Web sites, factories that make movies and take care of sick people and answer the telephone. These factories need workers.
If you learn how to be one of these workers, if you pay attention in school, follow instructions, show up on time, and try hard, we will take care of you. You won’t have to be brilliant or creative or take big risks.
We will pay you a lot of money, give you health insurance, and offer you job security. We will cherish you, or at the very least, take care of you.
It’s a pretty seductive bargain.
So seductive that for a century, we embraced it. We set up our schools and our systems and our government to support the bargain.
It worked. The Fortune 500 took care of us. The teachers’ union took care of us. The post office and the local retailer took care of us. We followed the instructions, we washed the bottles, we showed up on time, and in return, we got what we needed. It was the American Dream. For a long time it worked.
But in the face of competition and technology, the bargain has fallen apart.
Job growth is flat at best.
Wages in many industries are in a negative cycle.
The middle class is under siege like never before, and the future appears dismal. People are no longer being taken care of— pensions are gone; 401(k)s have been sliced in half; and it’s hard to see where to go from here. You might be the hard working secretary, the one with the institutional knowledge, the person who has given so much and deserves security and respect. And while you might deserve these things, your tenure is no guarantee that you’re going to get them.
Suddenly, quite suddenly in the scheme of things, it seems like the obedient worker bought into a sucker’s deal. The educated, hardworking masses are still doing what they’re told, but they are no longer getting what they deserve.
This situation presents a wonderful opportunity.
Yes, it’s an opportunity. An opportunity to actually enjoy what you do, to make a difference to your colleagues and your customers, and to unlock the genius you’ve been hiding all these years.
It’s futile to work hard at restoring the take-care-of-you bargain. The bargain is gone, and it’s not worth whining about and it’s not effective to complain. There’s a new bargain now…
Again, to be clear, Seth Godin DOES NOT directly endorse MLM Network Marketing. That said, there’s a lot we ARE by design & on purpose that’s right up his alley.
What Seth presents is a picture of the “American Dream” that is past tense. “The bargain,” and the systems and structures and people and ideas that have supported it, “has fallen apart.”
Three years ago I put together a book titled, It’s Time… For Network Marketing*. It was, alas, at least as indicated by its lack of acceptance & sales success, ahead of it’s time. Perhaps no longer.
It is clearly time for a NEW American Dream.
And although not for everybody, for millions of people “…who have so much to give but have been bullied enough or frightened enough to hold it back.” Who, “have become victims, pawns in a senseless system that uses them up and undervalues them.”

The NEW American Dream Team
The No. 1 Reason Americans Want to Work For Themselves
Excerpt from Robert Kiyosaki’s book, The Business of the 21st Century.
Now that layoffs are rampant and everyone is worried about what the future holds, millions of people are soberly reevaluating their finances and realizing that if they want to have a secure future they can count on, they’re going to have to come up with a Plan B. People today are hungrier than ever to earn extra money, and because of that, they are more receptive and more inclined to open their minds to new avenues.
In fact, this was true even before recent economic meltdown. Ever since the 80′s, and especially since the turn of the century, the drive to control our own economic futures has been building. Here’s what the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said in 2007 report titled Work, Entrepreneurship and Opportunity in 21st Century America: “Millions of Americans are embracing entrepreneurship by running their own small businesses.
72 percent of all adult Americans would rather work for themselves than for a job, and 67 percent think about quitting their jobs “regularly” or “constantly.”
Now, I’m no economist, but I know someone who is: Paul Zane Pilzer.

Paul is a wiz kid, was Citibank’s youngest-ever vice president, and left the banking world to make millions going into business for himself. He’s had a few New York Times best-sellers, predicted the Savings & Loan crisis before it happened, and served as an economic advisor to two presidential administrations. He’s someone worth listening to.
Paul talks about a 180-degree shift in cultural values around the nature of career paths, with the conventional corporate-employee career structure giving way to the entrepreneurial path.
“The traditional wisdom in the second half of the 20th century,” says Paul, “was to go to school, get a good education, and go to work for a large company. The idea of going into business for yourself was most often regarded as risky. Admirable perhaps, but risky … and maybe a little crazy. Today it’s completely the other way around.
Paul’s right. That U.S. Chamber of Commerce report I mentioned also refers to a Gallup poll finding that 61 percent of Americans say they would prefer to be their own boss. Another poll, this one by the Fresno research firm Decipher, found that 72 percent of all adult Americans would rather work for themselves than for a job, and 67 percent think about quitting teir jobs “regularly” or “constantly.”
And it’s not just about making a living: it’s also about the quality of how we’re living.
People are waking up to the fact that they want more control over their lives. They want to be more connected to their families, be in charge of their own time, work from their homes, determine their own destinies.
In that Dicipher study, 84 percent of the respondents said they woud be more passionate about their work if they owned their own business. The No. 1 reason they gave for wanting to work for themselves?
“To be more passionate about my work life.”
What’s happening is that the 20th-century myth of job security, with it’s promise that the path to a long, happy fulfilling life is to find a job working for someone else is crumbling before our eyes.

It’s Not Just the Money – Margie Aliprandi
It’s Not Just the Money
I’m convinced no other business model
could have given me the lifestyle I enjoy today.
And the dear friendships I’ve developed with
people around the world adds a richness and
texture to my life that’s beyond compare.
There is no question that the lifestyle of a career Network Marketer is enviable. I love my life, and I love network marketing. I believe, however, that the most important thing that happens to us in Network Marketing is not necessarily what we achieve or accumulate, but what and who we become.
If we embrace its principles, Network Marketing forces us to grow our strength of character and professionalism in order to grow a business. This growth evolves naturally from leaving our comfort zone, motivating ourselves to become the best that we can be, and helping others do the same.
Unlike the corporate business model where employees depend on the employer and where people must compete with each other in order to advance, the Network Marketing model encourages people to take initiative and help each other to reach mutually beneficial goals. The wealth you create is proportional to the number of people you help, how well you do it, and what they do about it.
So Network Marketing, more than anything I know, empowers people to contribute and make a difference. And I believe that in the final analysis, the difference you make is what counts.
When we leave here, we leave the money behind. But we take with us who we’ve become and the positive influence we’ve had in the lives of others.

Even If You Win the Rat Race, You’re Still a…
We’ll neither bore nor insult you by finishing the sentence in the subject line. You’ve got the idea. Some people… way too many… have lived with that idea for most of their working lives.
Down below the distressing surface of job cuts, diminishing wages & disappearing benefits is a deeper and harder to solve problem.
For many men & women the WHY the world-of-work isn’t working any more, is that the kinds of jobs the vast majority of people find themselves in or are forced to take today offer NOthing in terms of creativity, fulfillment & satisfaction.
Most JOBS simply DO NOT honor people’s values— those things that are always at the heart of the matter… those things that are most important to you… those things that make life worth living.
In his classic audio, Escape the Rat Race, Network Marketing trainer and million-dollar annual income earner Randy Gage takes a humorous look what’s missing with most ways of earning a living. Funny and… Sad, but true as well.
Here’s a short [05:15] clip.
